Brief Description of Northeast Wetland Restoration
Northeast Wetland Restoration (NWR) is a full service
wetland restoration firm that was formally established in
1993. The founder of NWR has 19 years of experience in over
50 individual wetland restoration projects and has provided
technical assistance in over 40 additional projects.
Our
strength is in our size. Having participated in over 90
projects NWR recognized early that with the diversity of
site specific wetland projects it is impossible for any one
firm to be fully qualified in all aspects of the restoration
field. With this in mind NWR has a business model based on
the more successful consulting firms. The firm’s
infrastructure is based on a few highly qualified
individuals with a broad base of experience. On occasion
skills are required that are outside of our core of
experience, when this occurs we reach out and acquire these
skills from the best suited source. By reaching out for
occasionally needed services we are able to maintain a lower
overhead.
This
business model, combined with a little ‘Yankee ingenuity’
has allowed NWR to save tens of thousands of dollars for
their clients.
-
During the course of the Little River Restoration
Project, NWR was able to provide the Town of North
Hampton a slight change in the scope of services that
resulted in the town saving over $60,000 in a three
month period.
-
When soil salinity contamination caused well head
protection issues for off site soil recycling for the
Awcomin Salt Marsh Restoration Project, NWR spent two
years finding new locations for 94,000 cubic yards of
soil for no additional project management costs. By
agreeing to stay the course NWR provided the Town of Rye
an estimated combined savings of $200,000 to $250,000
which prevented the town from needing to acquire
additional funds to cover extended trucking distances.
The
make up of NWR’s client base is approximately 60% nonprofit
grant funded projects supplemented by approximately 40%
select private clients. NWR prides itself on being the only
wetland restoration company in New England that has wetland
restoration as its primary focus. Our largest private
client is Waste Management Inc. NWR has maintained a 14
year relationship with Waste Management designing,
constructing, and managing a 207 acre wildlife sanctuary in
the heart of the Rumney Marshes in Saugus, Ma.
